Here’s a 2013 Ford Fiesta that we went to in Hollywood, CA. With only 74,000 the transmission decided to give out. This shows the poor design work from Ford and their powershift transmissions.
These were designed to have a separate clutch plate that engaged the next gear while in the current gear. In theory it’s a decent idea, but sadly Ford dropped the ball and didn’t make it well enough for longevity. Even though you can get a used transmission for a couple thousand dollars, the likelihood of it working much longer after the fact is fairly slim.
Our customer decided to junk the car due to this and was happy to get the problem off his plate.
